Dane deal: Agger signs Liverpool contract extension

“I’ve never wanted to go anywhere else,” the Danish defender said after signing a new long-term contract.

DANIEL AGGER COMMITTTED his future to Liverpool on Friday by signing a new long-term contract with the Merseyside club.

Agger’s current deal with the Reds was due to expire in June 2014 but the Danish centre-half ended speculation about a possible transfer by putting pen to paper on a contract extension. The length of the deal has not been disclosed.

Agger was heavily linked with move to Premier League champions Manchester City during the summer transfer window but insisted against today that he never wanted to leave Liverpool.

“It means everything to me. This is where I want to be and I’m happy the club want me,” he told LiverpoolFC.com. “I am really happy right now. I’ve never wanted to go anywhere else.

“I feel I am a part of this club – and I want to be a part of this club in the future.

“I like the way it is going right now with the style we’re playing, and hopefully the results will come soon as well.”

Agger joined Liverpool from Brondby for £5.8m in January 2006. He has made 177 appearances for the club, scoring nine goals.
