But first, let me take a selfie (to cut down on further professional photography costs).

MORE THAN HALF a million euro has been spent by the Department of the Taoiseach over the past decade, according to new figures.

However, the spend in recent years pales in comparison to the boom years.

A total of €537,826 (and 31 cent) has been spent since 2002, according to new data released in a parliamentary question by Fine Gael TD Patrick O’Donovan, combined with previous figures provided in responses  to Fianna Fáil’s Niall Collins and Barry Cowen.

The most spent in a single year was €83,397.75 in 2008.

Last year, €12,749.90 was spent, the lowest level in the data available.

Previous years ‘are not readily available’, the Taoiseach said in response to O’Donovan’s questions.

Photography expenses can cover events ranging from job announcements, visits by foreign diplomats, or internal Departmental use.
