Derrick Rose sinks a buzzer-beater to beat Lebron and the Cavs

The Chicago Bulls edged the Cleveland Cavaliers to take a 2-1 series lead in the NBA play-offs.

Derrick Rose hit a three-pointer on the buzzer to lead the Chicago Bulls to a hard-fought 99-96 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA play-offs on Friday.

Rose finished with 30 points but his jumper on the buzzer was the most important at the Uniter Center in Chicago.

It saw the Bulls into a 2-1 series lead against the Cavs in the Eastern Conference semi-final series.

Jimmy Butler had 20 points for the winners, while Mike Dunleavy (16) and Nikola Mirotic (12) were also important.

LeBron James had almost dragged the Cavs over the line thanks to 27 points, 14 assists and eight rebounds.

His missed lay-up with 23.9 seconds remaining threatened to be costly when Taj Gibson hit two free-throws to put the Bulls three points up.

But JR Smith (14 points) hit a massive three with 10.8 seconds remaining.

However, Rose would be the hero - taking an inbound from Dunleavy before banking in the match-winner.

Kyrie Irving was three-of-13 from the field for the Cavs in his 11-point haul, while Matthew Dellavedova (10) and Tristan Thompson (10) were the others in double digits for points.

Chris Paul made his return as the Los Angeles Clippers thrashed the Houston Rockets 124-99 to take a 2-1 lead in the Western Conference semi-final series.
