Donal Óg Cusack in the dark over Waterford manager position speculation

The Déise’s hurlers are currently without a boss for the 2014 campaign.

DONAL OG CUSACK is in the dark over speculation linking him with the vacant position as Waterford senior hurling manager.

It was confirmed earlier this month that Michael Ryan would not be seeking to go forward as Deise boss for 2014.

But it subsequently emerged that dissatisfaction amongst players had lead to Ryan making way.

Former Waterford legend John Mullane has spoken of his preference for Cusack to take the managerial reins in the county.

Yet the former Cork goalkeeper revealed yesterday to journalists he has no knowledge of such talk.

“I’m a hurling man. I love the game. I know as much as you do.

“That’s exactly it. I’m involved with Cloyne and I’m still playing with Cloyne. That’s it. I know as much as ye do.”

Ryan has indicated that he would consider letting his name go forward for the post again while Derek McGrath, who has enjoyed managerial success at colleges and club level with De La Salle, has also been strongly linked with the position.
