DR CROKES REMAIN on track for a third successive Munster club football title.
The Killarney side were too good for Tipperary outfit Loughmore-Castleiney, running out 3-16 to 1-05 winners, at Fitzgerald Stadium this afternoon.
Colm Cooper, Brian Looney and Kieran O’Leary got the goals for the Kerry kingpins. Crokes started well and were looking comfortable thanks to that first-period Gooch goal, before John McGrath replied in kind. The teams trotted in at the break with the score 1-8 to 1-3.
The visitors ended the game with 13 men; Cian Hennessy and John Ryan earned second-half red cards. Chris Brady was dismissed for the Kerry side, meanwhile, as the game became ill-tempered.
The defeat marks the end of a remarkable year for the Premier County side. Having claimed the senior hurling title, Loughmore-Castleiney won the Tipperary senior football title to become the first team in the county to claim that particular double in the one year.
