6 young hurling stars to watch in today's Dr Harty Cup final

Ardscoil Rís face Scoil Na Trionoide Naofa Doon in the Gaelic Grounds this afternoon.

Ardscoil Rís

Ronan Lynch (Na Piarsaigh)
Lynch was the star turn for Ardscoil Rís in the recent Dr Harty Cup semi-final win over Hamilton High School Bandon as he shot 1-9 and showcased his brilliant free taking abilities. Made the step up to the senior club stage in Na Piarsaigh’s recent semi-final against Portumna when he arced over two stunning sideline cuts in Thurles. Lynch is bound to be a key figure again today.

Cian Lynch (Patrickswell)
The Patrickswell clubman is captain of the Ardscoil Rís side. He has previous Dr Harty Cup winning experience, having been a substitute on the triumphant Ardscoil Rís team in 2011 when he was only a Junior Cert student. Lynch is a nephew of former Limerick great Ciaran Carey and struck 1-2 when Limerick won last year’s Munster minor final replay.

Michael Casey (Na Piarsaigh)
Corner back on the Na Piarsaigh team that contested the recent AIB All-Ireland senior club semi-final, Casey caught the eye at that level with his defensive displays.Casey also featured for the Limerick hurlers when they lost out in controversial circumstances against Galway in the All-Ireland minor semi-final last August.

Scoil Na Trionoide Naofa Doon

Colin Ryan (Pallasgreen)
Ryan’s accuracy from frees was central to Doon’s victory in their semi-final clash against Rochestown College. He struck 0-9, seven points from frees, in that tie. Ryan is a versatile player who was between the posts as goalkeeper last summer when the Limerick minors won the Munster hurling title.

Dean Coleman (Doon)
Coleman was a major attacking threat at full-forward when Doon won their semi-final tie as he flighted over five points from play. He also featured in attack last summer for the Limerick minor hurlers and struck 1-8 when his club won the county premier minor hurling final last October.

Stephen Ryan (Doon)
The captain of the Doon team, Ryan is a defensive lynchpin at centre-back. Ryan anchored his club’s side at full-back when they won the Limerick premier minor hurling title last year.
