FOUR CORK SCHOOLS along with the Tipperary pair of Thurles CBS and Nenagh CBS, and Limerick’s Ardscoil Rís all triumphed in today’s Dr Harty Cup action.
The group stages are set to conclude on 3 December with today’s games a crucial set of matches in determining who will be in pole position for the knockout stages.
In Group 1 unbeaten Thurles CBS maintained their winning ways in Clonmel with a nine-point win over Blackwater CS, and in the process booked their quarter-final place.
The other game in that group saw Ardscoil Rís win the all-Limerick clash between in Kilmallock against West Limerick Colleges by 13 points. They now only need to win their last group game against St Flannan’s to ensure a quarter-final place.
In Group 2 there was only one game today with St Colman’s comfortably defeating De La Salle Waterford by 20 points in the Fraher Field. Cork’s Gaelcholáiste Mhuire, Limerick’s Castletroy CC and St Colman’s are now all tied on four points at the top of this group.
In Group 3 Cork schools PS Youghal and Rochestown College both nailed down quarter-final places today with hard-fought victories. Rochestown College had three points to spare over St Caimin’s in Charleville while PS Youghal narrowly prevailed by a single point against Charleville CBS in Fermoy.
Finally in Group 4 there was a decisive win for Hamilton HS by a point in a high-scoring match against Midleton CBS in Church Road. The victory for the Bandon school ensures they reach the last eight with Midleton and Nenagh to fight it out for the second place.
