REIGNING CHAMPIONS ARDSCOIL Rís completed the line-up for this year’s Dr Harty Cup after they defeated St Flannan’s by 3-14 to 2-11 in today’s clash in Sixmilebridge.

The last Group 1 game – and the closing round-robin tie of the competition – saw the Limerick school lead 2-7 to 1-6 at the interval thanks to goals from Kevin Howard and David Fitzgerald.

They eventually ran out six-point winners and in the process knocked out West Limerick Colleges, 6-11 to 1-14 winners last Wednesday against Charleville CBS, in the race for spots in the last eight. Thurles CBS had already nailed down a last eight spot in Group 1.

Gaelcholáiste Mhuire AG, PS na Tríonóide (Youghal), Hamilton HS (Bandon) and Rochestown College are the four Cork schools that have reached the last eight with Thurles CBS and Nenagh CBS the Tipperary representatives.

Limerick’s Castletroy College booked their place last week and they’ll be joined by another Limerick outfit in Ardscoil Rís.

In Group 2,  Castletroy CC and Gaelcoláiste Mhuire AG have advanced. Gaelcoláiste Mhuire AG defeated SNTN Doon 1-15 to 1-13 last week while in Ballyagran, Castletroy ran out 2-9 to 0-13 victors over St Colman’s.

Matters had already been wrapped up in Group 3 before last week’s games with PS Youghal and Rochestown College already having reached the quarter-final stage before the final round of matches.

Finally in Group 4 Hamilton HS Bandon had already nailed down a last eight place before last week’s closing matches with Nenagh CBS joining them after they defeated Midleton CBS 3-11 to 1-13.
