Cash Money

Your Dublin Bus and Irish Rail commutes just got more expensive

But if you use a Leap card, you might be saving money.

PRICES ON DUBLIN Bus and Irish Rail went up today – so it may have cost you a little more to get to work this morning.

The revised fares for cash, Leap card, monthly and prepaid Dublin Bus tickets were approved earlier this year to kick in on 1 December.

The full details of the revised cash and Leap fares are here, and show that the most someone will pay for a bus journey is €3.60 for a cash fair on an Xpresso route.

The cheapest is a 60c city centre fare, if paid by Leap card.

The details of the new prepaid ticket prices are here.

Here are the previous fares.

Prices also went up on Irish rail trains, on cash, Leap card and pre-paid fares. Like the Dublin Bus fare hike, this was approved by the National Transport Authority.

The information on the fare increases can be found on the Irish Rail website.

Regional buses, trains and the Luas will all see price hikes next year, the National Transport Authority announced in October. Here’s more on the increased fares that you can expect in 2015.
