Dublin footballer Tomas Brady out for season after tearing cruciate ligament

The injury was suffered in a training session earlier this week.

DUBLIN FOOTBALLER TOMAS Brady is to miss the rest of the season after tearing his cruciate ligament.

The Na Fianna club man suffered the injury in training with the county side this week and it was subsequently diagnosed as a rupture of his ACL.

It is a huge setback for Brady after he previously tore the cruciate while in action for the county hurlers in 2011.

On that occasion Brady tore his cruciate in June of that season during the first-half in the Leinster hurling semi-final in Tullamore against Galway.

Brady returned to line out for the county hurlers last year but then switched allegiances to the Dublin football squad for the 2013 season.

He had featured in Dublin’s National League winning campaign this year and featured in league ties against Kerry in Killarney, Mayo in Croke Park and Donegal in Ballybofey.

In an official statement, Dublin manager Jim Gavin wished Brady well with his recovery.

“On a personal level this is very frustrating for Tómas who played a key role during the National Football League campaign and, having returned from a recent knock, was back again competing to a very high standard.

“Protocol’s have been activated to ensure that he will receive the best of medical care and the Dublin Football coaching staff will actively assist Tómas in his recovery over the weeks ahead.

“We wish Tómas a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back to full health in the near future”.
