Fears for Irish jobs as eBay announces plans to cut 2,400 positions

The jobs cuts set to be cut in the coming months.

THE AMERICAN MULTINATIONAL corporation eBay is to shed 2,400 jobs worldwide.

The jobs – which amount to 7% of its global workforce – are set to be cut in the first quarter of this year.

Around 2,400 people are employed by the Ebay and its online payment subsidiary, PayPal, in Dublin and Dundalk.

It’s not yet clear whether the Irish jobs will be affected by the cuts.

The company announced last September that it was going to split eBay and PayPal into two separate companies.
