This very fake article about a Mayo postman had lots of people totally fooled

No, he didn’t walk in and ask to watch Jeremy Kyle.

LAST WEEK, ESTEEMED news publication the Mayo Globe published this shocking story.

It detailed the sorry account of a mailman who walked into people’s houses while delivering their post and “helping himself to contents in people’s refrigerators”.

One ‘victim’ told the Mayo Globe:

Last week I was in the living room at about noon eating a sandwich. All of sudden the door swings open and he came in and grabbed the sandwich from my hand and sat down in the armchair beside me and asked ‘what’s on the box’. I was in shock and didn’t know what to say. He asked me to change it over to Jeremy Kyle, so I did.

Many people were appalled by this news.

While others speculated that the poor man simply needed help.

Some, meanwhile, were angry that the fridge-raiding Jeremy Kyle-loving postman had not received a harsher penalty.

The article is, of course, a fake. The Mayo Globe offers a link to a disclaimer at the top of all its articles, which notes that “a little satire never did anyone any harm”.

Other articles include ‘Michael Ring Body Double Exposed’ and ‘Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart Set To Open Sharpshooters Pub In Castlebar’.

Luckily, at least some people are treating this story with the seriousness it deserves.
