Fantasyland: Get your double gameweek thinking hats on

Think of this article as a reminder to update your team with plenty of United and Arsenal players.

AT THIS LATE stage of the season, there’s nothing like a double gameweek to separate the men from the boys in Fantasy Football terms.

Those whose teams aren’t already full of Arsenal and Man United players may want to amend them accordingly, with both those sides featuring twice against beatable opposition in the coming days.

And with one point separating the two sides at the top of TheScore.ie’s Fantasy league, it’s bound to be a more exciting and nerve-wracking finish than the actual Premier League title race.

Players to pick this week

Santi Cazorla: With Gareth Bale still injured, Fantasy Football players are in need of a consistent midfield performer to rely on. And Santi Cazorla seems a fairly logical choice. He’s had a better season than most Arsenal players, and is unsurprisingly their highest scoring player Fantasy Football points-wise. And given that they’re one of the beneficiaries of the double gameweek – playing two very winnable games at home against Norwich and Everton – you could do a lot worse than bring the Spaniard into your team.

Patrice Evra: United’s defence has had to cope with numerous injuries this year, but they’ve still managed to excel in spite of such problems.  Evra has been one of the few reliable starters and thus, represents a solid Fantasy Football pick. Of course, the defence was not at its rock solid best against City on Monday, but they had gone a significant period without conceding before that game. Consequently, you can expect Alex Ferguson’s back four to have an easier time against both Stoke and West Ham.

Players to avoid this week

Robin van Persie: It would be no huge surprise if the Dutch striker was rested for at least one of United’s upcoming games. The player, who was in exceptional form at the start of the season, now hasn’t scored in two months for United. Of course, it wouldn’t be the first time he defies his critics if he does ultimately get a couple of goals in the coming days, but for now, at the very least he’s no longer reliable captain material.

Any Swansea or Tottenham player: Despite the fact that it’s a double gameweek, neither of these sides are playing even once. So if you’ve previously filled your team with their players, now might be a good time to use the wildcard.

Predictions:

Arsenal 3-1 Norwich

Aston Villa 1-1 Fulham

Everton 2-0 QPR

Reading 1-2 Liverpool

Southampton 2-1 West Ham

Newcastle 1-1 Sunderland

Stoke 0-2 Man United

Arsenal 2-1 Everton

Man City 3-1 Wigan

West Ham 1-2 Man United

Fulham 1-2 Chelsea
