Fire service attends 500 incidents despite anti social behaviour

Emergency service vehicles were stoned and an ambush was set up in the Spencer Dock area in Dublin last night.

DUBLIN FIRE SERVICE attended 500 incidents over Halloween night in Dublin and 11 other counties despite coming up against anti social behaviour in the capital.

Over 1500 calls were dealt with by the fire service with the majority of incidents in Dublin. Some 540 calls were made in Leinster counties outside Dublin and 137 incidents were attended.

The Dublin fire service said one of the worst incidents involved a 26-year-old woman who was injured after an explosion at a bonfire in Tallaght.

A 12-year-old boy also sustained extensive burns to his hand when a firework exploded.

There were several instances of ant-social behaviour reported last night with youths throwing stones at ambulances around Beaumont Hospital and at another emergency service vehicle in Tallaght.

The fire service also said an “ambush” was set up in the Spencer Dock area whereby emergency services were called to the scene and attacked when they arrived.
