Fair play to Barry McNamara.

Updated 18.30

A YOUNG HORSE racing fan was praised on Monday after he donated a portion of his First Communion money to the Injured Jockeys Fund.

Sligo youngster Barry McNamara donated €25 to the charity and sent it in to them with this lovely note.

β€œDear Olivia, I just want to let you know that I put €25 from my first holy communion money into the fund for the injured jockeys,” Barry wrote.

β€œI ride my own pony called Speckles.

β€œMy favourite jockey is AP McCoy. Mum’s favourite is (Davy) Russell.”

The IJF posted a picture of the letter on Twitter and said: β€œMany thanks to Barry McNamara from Sligo who donated some communion money, loving the cute card he sent #everydayhero”
