Fourth place finish sees Puspure miss out on semi-finals

The rower came up short in her single sculls quarter-final this morning.

IRELAND’S SANITA PUSPURE had a fourth place finish in her Women’s single sculls quarter-final meaning she narrowly misses out on a place in the semis.

The Latvian-born 30-year-old had put in a strong performance in the heats on Saturday, but with only three rowers progressing from today’s race, was up against it.

Puspure began well and took the lead early on but saw Czech Miroslava Knapkova,  Frida Svensson of Sweden and Team USA’s Genevra Stone go in front after the 1,000m mark.

She will now take part in the ‘C’ semi-final at Eton Dorney on Thursday.
