France international given 8-week ban for trampling on opponent's face

Marc Andreu will miss the rest of the Top 14 regular season as a result of his actions.

RACING 92 WING Marc Andreu has been banned for eight weeks for trampling on Toulon flanker Virgile Bruni’s face in a Top 14 fixture last month.

France international Andreu will miss the rest of the Top 14 regular season as a result of the sanction, as well as Racing’s European Champions Cup semi-final against Leicester Tigers on April 24.

Bruni required surgery after Andreu stepped on his face at a ruck, seriously injuring his right eye.

Should Racing not proceed in Europe or reach the Top 14 play-offs, Andreu’s sanction will carry over to next season.
