Delay in Gary Glitter's trial for sex offences against teenage girls

The former pop star faces charges including attempted rape and indecent assault against a 13-year-old.

THE TRIAL OF former British pop star Gary Glitter for a string of sex offences against three underage girls has been delayed until tomorrow.

The 1970s glam rocker faces a total of 10 charges related to the alleged crimes committed between 1975 and 1980.

The trial was slated to get underway at Southwark crown court today but will now begin tomorrow.

The 70-year-old, whose real name is Paul Gadd, arrived in court today amid a thronged media presence to hear of the postponement.

He is accused of one count of attempted rape and another of indecent assault on a girl aged under 13 in 1975.

For a second alleged victim, he faces four charges of indecent assault when she was aged under 13 in 1977.

He is also accused of plying the girl with drink to have sex with her and faces one count of unlawful intercourse.

In relation to a third complainant who was aged under 16, he is charged with two counts of indecent assault between 1979 and 1980.

Gadd denies all the charges against him. The trial is expected to last three weeks.
