Neville: 'It's what I always think of Tottenham - never ready, weak'.

Manchester United’s ex-captain and current England assistant coach tore into Spurs’ after their 2-1 loss to Newcastle over the weekend.

YOU CAN ALWAYS count on Gary Neville to speak his mind and that’s exactly what he did on Sky Sports earlier tonight.

Appearing on Monday Night Football, he dissected Spurs’ 2-1 loss at home to Newcastle and heavily criticised the home side for inexplicably conceding with just six seconds of the second half played.

It’s so poor. And Tottenham historically…it’s what I always think of them – never ready, weak.”

He identified a lack of preparation and focus as being key ingredients in Tottenham’s make-up and suggested the club has struggled with both issues for quite a while.

It’s not the first time that Neville has brutally exposed Tottenham’s somewhat nonchalant approach to preparation.

Last season, the side were thumped 6-0 by Manchester City at the Etihad. But they conceded a first goal to Jesus Navas after just 14 seconds. Neville analysed the opener and pinpointed five Spurs’ players who he felt weren’t ready for the game to begin. According to him, their setup was a ‘shambles’.

And they clearly haven’t sorted things out just yet. Even with a different manager in charge.
