Buffon continues to defy ageing process as Juventus extend lead in Italy's top-flight

The 38-year-old racked up his 200th clean-sheet for the club in the 1-0 win over Roma.

GIANLUIGI BUFFON KEPT his 200th clean sheet for Juventus in their 1-0 win over Roma on Saturday night.

The Serie A champions extended their lead at the top of the table over their main contenders to seven points thanks to Gonzalo Higuain’s 14th-minute strike.

While the Bianconeri attack otherwise struggled to break through the visitors’ defence they were able to rely upon the 38-year-old, who still looks on the top of his game.

Buffon may have only needed to make two saves throughout the 90 minutes, he has already impressed this season by setting a new record for consecutive clean sheets with a run of 10.

And the goalkeeper has now added another impressive milestone with the club since joining in 2001 from Parma.

The World Cup winner already holds the record for most Serie A clean sheets across his spells at Parma and Juve.

Buffon is currently contracted to Juve until 2018, who now sit seven points clear of Roma.
