THE STATS DON’T augur well for Greece ahead of tonight’s Euro 2012 quarter-final against Germany in Gdansk. Who wants to face a team who have won their last 14 international games and scored at least one goal in each of their last 19?

There is one ray of hope for Fernando Santos’s men though — this 73-yard fluke by defender Giorgos Tzavelas which beat Manuel Neuer, then of Schalke 04, during a game against Eintracht Frankfurt back in March 2011.

Tzavelas is unlikely to start tonight’s game but Neuer will be between the sticks for Germany. If it can happen once, surely it can happen again? It’s worth a punt, literally…
