IRELAND BOSS GIOVANNI Trapattoni today played down reports that he was considering an offer to become Napoli’s new manager.
Speaking at a press conference in Carrick on Shannon, in which he named a 28-man squad for Ireland’s upcoming internationals, he told reporters:
“Only God knows what can happen. In this moment, my [priorities are with] Ireland. It’s only speculation.”
Trapattoni also paid tribute to departing Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson during the announcement, and indicated Richard Dunne may become available to link up with the squad.
“I spoke with [Dunne] and asked him – if you can play one or two games in the league… He started training last week. His club must tell us about his injury – we need permission.”
The game against England takes place on May 29, and is followed by a friendly against Georgia on June 2. Both games will serve as preparation for the side’s World Cup qualifier against the Faroe Islands on June 7, before they play Spain in another glamour friendly in Yankee Stadium on June 11.
