Forget Paris

Glasgow take top spot in Munster's pool but fall short of bonus point against Racing

GLASGOW WARRIORS MOVED to the top of Pool 1 after a terrific win against last year’s runners-up Racing 92 in the European Champions Cup tonight.

But, despite the 23-7 victory, they were unable to rack up a bonus point which leaves them three clear of Munster having played two games more.

Rassie Erasmus’ side are in action against Leicester Tigers tomorrow.

The Warriors repeated the trick on home soil after conjuring a superb result in Paris last week and the defeat now leaves Ronan O’Gara’s side pointless after three games and effectively eliminated.

The hosts scored two tries in the opening period – through Josh Strauss, who was making his 100th appearance, and Fraser Brown – while Finn Russell added two penalties.

Early in the second-half, Ali Price touched down to extend Glasgow’s lead.

But they couldn’t grab a fourth try and missed out on a bonus point while they conceded late on too - Xavier Chauveau ensuring Racing avoided what would have been an embarrassing whitewash.
