THE GLEN OF Imaal Mountain Rescue team rescued two men who had gotten into difficulty in Glendalough yesterday evening.
The climbers were traversing steep unstable ground near Temple na Skellig on the south side of the Upper Lake when they fell into the water.
Mountain rescue services were notified at about 5.30pm. When they arrived on scene, the men had managed to get themselves out of the water.
Some of the rescue team walked along the bank to met them and the National Park staff were alerted. They launched their boat on the lake to assist with the evacuation.
The two men were treated for hypothermia and brought back to the team’s base for hot showers and a debrief.
The operation was complete by 6.30pm.
Wicklow’s Mountain Rescue teams thanked the Wicklow Mountains National Park staff, the local shop and hotel staff for their assistance in alerting team members in the area and An Garda Síochána.
