Graham Dwyer to be sentenced to life in prison in court today

Last month, Dwyer closed his eyes and shook his head when the guilty verdict was delivered.

LAST MONTH, GRAHAM Dwyer was found guilty of the murder of Elaine O’Hara.

Today, Dwyer will be back in court to receive his sentence.

Dwyer, a successful architect and father of three, will be sentenced to life in prison for his crime. It is expected that he will lodge an appeal against his conviction.

The seven men and five women of the jury reached their unanimous verdict of guilty on 27 March last, after two months of a gruelling and, at times, traumatic trial.

They deliberated for a total of seven hours and 33 minutes.

Justice Tony Hunt told the jury he agreed with the verdict 110%.

Upon hearing the verdict, Dwyer closed his eyes and shook his head when the guilty verdict was brought in by the jury. His father and tearful sister were seated in the gallery.

Elaine O’Hara’s family members – her father, her brother and sister – were in tears and embraced. They later thanked the gardaí for their work on the case.
