Gardaí were alerted to the grenade this afternoon.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING after a hand grenade was found in Dundalk.

The device was discovered on waste ground in the O’Hanlon Park area this afternoon and was made safe by an army bomb disposal team this evening.

The Defence Forces deployed the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team to an area of waste ground to deal with the munition following a request from gardaí.
