FRANCESCO TOTTI’S GOAL helped Roma secure a vital point away to Manchester City last night, and the striker admits a tweet from the English club’s official account inspired him.
Despite an illustrious career, the striker had never scored on English soil in the Champions League until yesterday’s game at the Etihad Stadium, and @MCFC did not hesitate to remind their Roma counterparts of this fact prior to the two clubs’ encounter.
And after the game, Totti said he was well aware of the tweet in question.
“City’s tweet? It really brought me luck,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport. “It was a beautiful goal and a good performance.
“I really wanted to score as soon as possible as I had not found the back of the net this season.
“But above all, I am thrilled for my team because we have shown a lot of strength, which was not easy.”
