Heuston train line reopened, but knock-on delays to affect rush hour

The line is closed due to a fatality on the line.

Updated 8.05am

THERE WILL BE major disruption at one the country’s busiest train stations today, after a fatality on the line between Sallins and Newbridge.

Iarnród Éireann say that the line, which was closed by request of the gardaí, has reopened, but there are knock-on delays.

Intercity services from Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Galway and Westport had been terminating at Kildare with road transfers to and from Heuston.

A spokesperson for the company said that the disruption was unavoidable and latest news would be posted online.

“For more info please go to irishrail.ie or @irishrail

“Iarnrod Eireann apologises for the inconvenience caused.”

Gardaí confirmed that the body of a 44-year-old man was taken from the track at Caragh at around 11pm last night.

They are not currently treating the incident as suspicious, but investigations are ongoing.
