Holland go top of Fifa rankings

Meanwhile, Ireland have jumped up two places, following the side’s 0-0 draw with Croatia earlier this month.

SPAIN’S RECENT FRIENDLY loss against Italy (see video below) has helped enable Holland to end their reign as the world’s top-ranked side.

It is the first time that Holland have ever held the position at the top of the Fifa World Rankings, as they become one of only seven teams to do so.

Meanwhile, despite only drawing with Croatia earlier this month, Ireland have moved up two places to 31st.

England have jumped from 6th to 4th, while two of the other home nations have also moved up, with Northern Ireland now in 59th and Scotland in 55th. Wales, however, have dropped to 117th, with teams such as Haiti, Guyana and Suriname above them.

Following Uruguay’s Copa America success, they have replaced Brazil in fifth spot, as Mano Menezes’ side drop a place to sixth.
