You can now get direct flights from Ireland to Iceland

Nice one.

FOR THE FIRST time, you can now book direct flights from Ireland to Iceland.

WOW air (Iceland’s answer to Ryanair) announced the new route today but its schedule won’t start until 2 June.

Flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. It will take passengers two hours and twenty minutes to get from Dublin to Reykjavik.

A visitors’ favourite, Iceland is popular for its wildlife, music scene, midnight sun, hot springs and glorious views of the Northern Lights. Its scenery and landscape has been left largely untouched by its small population of 300,000.

But Irish people have been left in the dark as connecting flights, plus the cost of the trip in an expensive country, ruled it out as an option for many.

CEO of WOW air, however, has also pointed out that this is a fantastic opportunity for Irish tourism as Icelanders can also fly direct to Ireland.

“Both our countries have so much to offer visitors and we hope, that in launching this route, it allows people the opportunity to experience some wonderful trips to unique places both in Ireland and Iceland,” said Skuli Mogensen.
