CANADIAN AUTHORITIES ARE investigating a bizarre incident in which the body of a dog encased in a large block of ice was found last week.
A resident in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, discovered the ice-entombed dog on his lawn on 15 January.
He said he does not recognise the dog or know why it would have been left in his garden.
The British Columbia Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals (BCSPCA) is appealing for information about the incident and is still trying to determine the identity of the animal’s owner.
The BCSPCA’s general manager Marci Moriarty described the incident as a “bizarre and very upsetting case”, saying:
Inside the block of ice, which looks to have been made from a large rubber bin, was the frozen corpse of a medium-size black dog.
The organisation said it was also working to determine the cause of death.
