Poll: Who should Joe Schmidt pick as Ireland captain?

Here are the leading candidates to lead Ireland out for the November tests against Samoa, Australia and the All Blacks.

NOW THAT WE know who is in Joe Schmidt’s squad for the November tests, we can start to speculate as to the captaincy.

There are a few standout candidates of course, including former captains Brian O’Driscoll, Paul O’Connell and Rory Best. Jamie Heaslip will be understandably keen to hang on to the metaphorical armband having led Ireland last season, while Munster captain Peter O’Mahony represents something of a wildcard choice, given his relative international inexperience.

So who would your choice as Ireland captain be?

Poll Results:

Peter O'Mahony (906)
Paul O'Connell (889)
Brian O'Driscoll (798)
Jamie Heaslip (635)
AN Other (277)
Sean O'Brien (236)
Rory Best (139)
