Davis Cup update: Ireland behind following doubles loss

The score is currently 2-1, after James McGee and Sam Barry were defeated by their Hungarian counterparts.

IRELAND ARE CURRENTLY trailing Hungary 2-1 after Day 2 of the Davis Cup.

Hungary’s Adam Kellner and Attila Balazs defeated James McGee and Sam Barry 7-6, 6-7, 6-2, 7-6 earlier today, in an encounter that lasted four hours.

The sides had been level before today, with one victory apiece, after Conor Niland lost out to Marton Fucsovics last night.

The Birmingham-born man showed great resilience to come back from two sets down, before eventually losing out 7-6, 6-4, 6-7, 2-6, 6-2.

Earlier in the day, James McGee had beaten Adam Kellner in another closely-fought encounter, ultimately triumphing 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-7, 6-4.
