IT’S A CRUCIAL day in the history of Irish women’s rugby as the national side prepare to take on four-time champions New Zealand at the Women’s Rugby World Cup in France this evening [KO 5.00pm on TG4].
Ireland have never played the Kiwis in a 15-a-side international game before, but come into the clash with confidence after several seasons of consistent progress. New Zealand opened their World Cup with a 79-5 win over Kazakhstan on Friday, while Ireland beat the US 23-17.
Ahead of this evening’s Pool B encounter, Irish captain Fiona Coghlan and head coach Philip Doyle spoke to the IRFU’s video team, outlining the task they face, as well as how they are approaching the game.
