At the movies: All the month's must-see flicks

We’ve rounded up the best new movie releases this April.

APRIL LOOKS TO be a pretty good month for d’pictures actually.

We’ve rounded up our pick of the flicks for the month of April and have as wide a selection as your little heart could desire.

Earnest and Arty: Woman in Gold

MOVIECLIPS Trailers / YouTube

Based on a true story, this film tells the tale of Maria Altmann who campaigned the Austrian government for the return of family paintings, including the famous ‘Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer’ by Gustav Klimt, taken by Nazis during World War II.

Released 10 April 2015

Keanu – need we say more? John Wicks

Movie Trailers / YouTube

‘People keep asking me am I back? I’m back.’ So says recently un-retired hitman John Wick, (and presumably Keanu Reeves whose last film was in… well 2013, but his last good film was in 2006 with A Scanner Darkly) who launches an attack on the gang that took everything from him, including his innocent puppy dog.

Released 10 April 2015

Irish Interest: Glassland

Element Pictures Distribution / YouTube

As if his life wasn’t hard enough with an alcoholic mam intent on drinking herself to death, young taxi driver John (Ireland’s newest sleb Jack Reynor) gets involved in human trafficking. Not the most upbeat of movies we imagine, but it’s done great on the festival circuit.

Released 17 April 2015

Rom-com duh-dom-dom: Man Up

STUDIOCANAL UK / YouTube

Following on from our last (grim-ish) selection, the light-hearted Man Up stars Lake Bell and Simon Pegg as a couple of blind daters with a case of (on Bell’s part) mistaken identity.

Released 10 April 2015

And for pure comedy-title gold:   A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence

moviemaniacsDE / YouTube

How could we not include a film with that title? And because you need to know what this is about, we cannot deny you. It’s about two travelling salesmen. From Sweden.

Mmhmm. Course it is.

Released 24 April 2015
