Preston’s Alan Browne, Milwall’s Aidan O’Brien and Nottingham Forest’s Daryl Murphy all hit goals.

IRISH TRIO AIDEN O’Brien, Alan Browne and Daryl Murphy were all on target on a busy day of Championship action in their side’s respective openers.

Cork midfielder Browne bagged Preston’s winner at Deepdale, his header seeing them 1-0 victors over Queens Park Rangers.

Callum Robinson also featured in the starting XI, while Daryl Horgan and Graham Burke were on the bench.

Elsewhere, O’Brien scored Milwall’s opener in their 2-2 draw against Middlesborough.

The Islington-born Ireland international found the back of the net for the first time since January — and his 30th as a Milwall player — after just 11 minutes.
