DFA providing consular assistance after Irishman drowns in Croatia

THE DEPARTMENT OF Foreign Affairs has confirmed that it is providing consular assistance to the family of an Irishman who drowned in Croatia at the weekend.

The 28-year-old man’s body was pulled from the sea yesterday morning with a post-mortem examination indicating that he had drowned.

RTÉ reports that he had attended the Dimensions music festival in the city of Pula in the north-east of the country.

The DFA said that consular assistance is being provided through its embassies in London and Croatia.

It is understood that the man, who has not been named, was not a resident in Ireland.
