Jack Guiney quits the Wexford panel for 'personal reasons'

The forward was dropped for disciplinary reasons last year.

WEXFORD’S 2016 SEASON has been dealt a major blow while still in its infancy with the news that Jack Guiney has left the panel for ‘personal reasons’.

The forward had been named to start against Limerick in their Allianz National Hurling League Division 1B clash on Saturday but was replaced by Shane Tompkins just before throw-in.

There had been some confusion over the reasons for his withdrawal with initial speculation from the county that he had suffered a hamstring injury.

However, a number of reports this morning indicate that he has decided to step away from the panel altogether for personal reasons.

The Rathnure man was dropped by Wexford manager Liam Dunne last summer for disciplinary reasons following a win over Westmeath in Leinster championship, his one point in that game his only score of his side’s 2015 campaign.
