Irish tennis ace James McGee on the brink of French Open debut

The 27-year-old has never made it to a Grand Slam event.

IRELAND’S JAMES MCGEE is a single victory away from his first-ever Grand Slam event.

The 27-year-old — ranked 209 in the world – beat Guido Pella of Argentina on a scoreline of 6-1 6-4 today to get through to the third qualifying round. McGee will face Andrea Arnaboldi of Italy who holds a current ATP ranking of 174.

The match is likely to be played at Roland Garros tomorrow though the schedule is yet to be finalised.
