Neville opens up Sunday morning debate with defence of Januzaj dive

The Sky pundit says the issue is far from black and white.

IF YOU’RE UP EARLY on a Sunday morning this cold, chances are you’re in the mood for a row with someone.

That certainly seemed to be in the case in Gary Neville’s house as the Sky pundit opened a defence of Adnan Januzaj and, surprisingly, diving in general.

The Manchester United winger was the centre of controversy last night after going to ground during Manchester United’s 3 – 1 win over West Ham yesterday.

To us, Neville makes a decent argument: attacking players need to protect themselves against stronger, heavier defenders clattering into them.

This isn’t about whether Januzaj dived or not. He did, but to some, diving is the worst thing in sport. Neville now seems to be in the camp that it’s just part of the game.
