Jeff Stelling threatens to thrash Sky Sports vidiprinter with a hammer

The rolling scores machine went AWOL for over an hour and a half as football league goals rained in.

SKY SPORTS HAD some outsourcing nightmares on the opening day of the football league season as their score and scorers graphics went snap.

There was much fanfare and bombast for the early return of the English football season. It was all too much for the providers of the stations rolling vidiprinter scores and in-game data, both of which are outsourced.

From the 40 minute onward of most matches, the score updates froze, leading to a raft of complaints, social media sniping and for host Jeff Stelling to threaten a hammer attack on the faulty machinery.

The show returned from an ad break and Stelling took his threats one step further.

“I’m warning you vidi-printer,” he bellowed, “if you don’t get your act together I’m gonna thrash you.” Check out the clip here:

Top results from the opening day of the Championship, now sponsored by Sky Bet rather than npower, included a 4-0 win for Wigan over Barnsley, a late victory for Leeds over Brighton and a 2-1 triumph for QPR over Sheffield Wednesday.
