Government say this morning's Cabinet meeting is '#allaboutjobs'

The Taoiseach had promised a a “real relentless push” on employment in 2014, today they will hold a special meeting on the issue.

THE GOVERNMENT IS to hold a special Cabinet meeting on the issue of jobs this morning and will then give an update on their jobs plan now nearly two years into its four year cycle.

Before Christmas, the Taoiseach Enda Kenny had promised a “real relentless push” on the issue of employment in 2014 and had committed to holding the a specific cabinet meeting on the issue by the end of January or the beginning of February.

After the Cabinet meeting, the Taoiseach, Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore and Jobs Minster Richard Bruton will then set out the figures from the final quarterly review of the Action Plan for Jobs in 2013.

The Government’s jobs strategy was given a boost yesterday when there was a further drop in the numbers on the Live Resister. The standardised unemployment rate dropped to 12.3 per cent, down from 12.4 per cent in December 2013.

Last  month, Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton said that the Action Plan for Jobs created 58,000 jobs in 2013.
