Joe Kinnear resigns as Newcastle director of football

The 67-year old left the club this evening.

AFTER AN OFTEN controversial tenure, Joe Kinnear has left his role as director of football with Newcastle United.

Kinnear only took up the post in June 2013 following the departure of Derek Llambias and immediately riled Magpies’ fans with his inability to pronounce the names of several high profile Newcastle players during a radio interview with Talksport.

A brief statement on the club’s official website tonight said:

“Newcastle United can confirm that Joe Kinnear has this evening resigned from his position as Director of Football with immediate effect.

“The club will be making no further comment.”
