John Delaney demands apology from Brian Kerr for Martin O'Neill dinner claims

The FAI chief said he didn’t meet with the Derryman in a Dublin restaurant before the Sweden game.

FAI CHIEF EXECUTIVE John Delaney insists he did not have dinner with Martin O’Neill in Dublin as Giovanni Trapattoni prepared his side for a crunch World Cup qualifier against Sweden in Dublin.

And the Association chief has demanded an apology from Brian Kerr who made the claim about the Shanahan’s restaurant meeting, on Today FM’s The Last Word programme last week.

“Brian is wrong and should apologise for that,” said Delaney on the same programme this evening.

“I don’t want to put any sour taste in but he’s absolutely bang out of order there. Going in to the Sweden game, if we had won we were still on course to qualify for the World Cup and to make a comment like that is bang out of order — he really should apologise for that because that did not happen”.
