Confirmed! Jose Aldo will fight Max Holloway for the title stripped from Conor McGregor

The title unification bout will take place at UFC 212 on 3 June in Rio de Janeiro.

IT’S BEEN OFFICIALLY confirmed that UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo will fight Max Holloway for the title at UFC 212 on 3 June in Rio.

Holloway is the current interim champion after Conor McGregor was controversially stripped of the belt he won by beating Aldo inside 13 seconds in December 2015 — the Irishman had become the UFC’s first two-weight champion upon beating Eddie Alvarez last November.

The American star subsequently won the interim belt by beating Anthony Pettis at UFC 206 in December, though McGregor still insists he is the rightful champion.

Holloway, who is enjoying a 10-fight winning streak, will take on Aldo, after the Brazilian star beat Frankie Edgar at UFC 200 for the belt last July.

The title unification bout is the first fight to be announced on the UFC 212 card.
