MANCHESTER UNITED MIDFIELDER Shinji Kagawa is determined to improve on last season’s performances.
The 24-year-old who is currently in Brazil with Japan for the Confederations Cup, where he scored in his side’s 4-3 loss against Italy, has expressed his desire to perform better at Manchester United.
Kagawa scored six goals in 17 Premier League appearances in his debut season with the title holders but also spent a long time on the sidelines through injury.
“It was a tough time for me, with a lot going on in my head,” he told premierleague.com. “I am not happy with my performance for the team at all. I didn’t score that much and I also had my (knee) injury. Despite that, it was great we won the league, but I just don’t feel that I achieved everything I wanted. For me personally, it wasn’t a good season.”
The Japan international will hope that he can commence the new season at full fitness and his former manager at Cerezo Osaka, Levir Culpi, has heaped praise upon him.
“Shinji has an important quality, he is always trying to make something happen. He never becomes complacent. He always wants more, that is a trait of his that I noticed from the start,” he told premierleague.com.
