Katie Taylor wins for the second night in succession

The Bray native fought in front of a home town crowd this evening.

AFTER RETURNING TO the ring last night, Olympic gold medallist Katie Taylor made it two wins in two nights with a unanimous decision victory over Finland’s Mira Potkonen in Bray this evening.

Just 24-hours after her triumphant return to action in the Mansion House, the Wicklow native never looked threatened as she wowed a partisan crowd in the Ballywaltrim Community Centre in what was a billed as her ‘true’ home-coming fight.

Showing little of the rust that impacted her bout with Caroline Veyre yesterday evening, Taylor’s class was obvious from the opening exchanges as she looked to win her 101st fight in the last 103 attempts. It also brings the 27-year olds overall record to 140 wins in 147 fights.

The sold-out bout was a repeat of the EU Championships semi-finals which Taylor also won on a unanimous decision before going on to win gold in June.
