Keith Andrews signs for Ipswich; aims parting shot at Blackburn fans

The Ireland international midfielder will remain on loan at the club until January.

IRISH INTERNATIONAL KEITH Andrews has moved to Ipswich on loan until January, it has been confirmed.

The 30-year-old, who has 20 caps for Ireland, only made 5 appearances for Blackburn last year, mainly as a result of persistent injury problems, and found himself surplus to requirements following his recovery.

Speaking to the BBC, he said: “I didn’t want to be in an out of the team this year and I need to be playing football so I can feature for my country.”

Andrews, who was booed by a section of Blackburn supporters during his time there, seemingly aimed a parting shot at the club, saying:

“I’ve always conducted myself very well so it’s refreshing to come to a football club where you’re appreciated.”

It is the fourth time that the ex-Wolves man has been out on loan during his career, having previously had spells at Oxford, Stoke and Walsall.
