Kerry optimistic over O'Sullivan fitness battle

The player faces a race to recover in time for his side’s semi-final clash with Mayo in three weeks time.

KERRY STAR DARRAN O’Sullivan should be fit for his side’s semi-clash with Mayo on 21 August, according to manager Jack O’Connor.

The player picked up a hamstring injuring during Kerry’s All-Ireland win over Limerick on Sunday, however O’Connor is optimistic that the player will be back in time for the Mayo game.

Speaking to RTÉ, he said:

“I am no doctor but he felt a bit of a tweak in the hamstring and we thought it was better to take him off, but hopefully we can get him right for the semi-final in three weeks time.”

Kerry beat Limerick with a comfortable 1-20 to 0-10 victory at the weekend, as O’Sullivan registered 1-3 before being taken off.

O’Connor’s side will be eager to get O’Sullivan back to full fitness, given his impressive performances in the Championship this year.

Kerry are many people’s favourites to win the All-Ireland and came top of a recent TheScore.ie poll asking who was most likely to win the competition, as they garnered 40% of the votes.
