Kerry minor captain David Clifford bags stunning goal as East Kerry advance to quarter-finals

Cooper, Casey and O’Leary hit 6-10 between them for Dr Crokes in the Kerry SFC yesterday.

KERINS O’RAHILLYS advanced to the Kerry SFC quarter-finals with a 2-13 to 3-9 victory over Dingle at Pairc an Ághasaigh.

Goals from John Ferguson and Gearoid Savage left the Tralee side 10 points in front at after 15 minutes, but two goals from Paul Geaney and one from Conor Geaney brought Dingle roaring back into the contest.

Fine displays from David Moran and Barry John Keane helped O’Rahillys to victory.

Meanwhile today, South Kerry enoyed a 2-17 to 1-5 win against Kilcummin, with Bryan Sheehan in good form at midfield.

Mid Kerry exited the championship with a 4-15 to 1-11 defeat to East Kerry, with Kerry minor skipper David Clifford scoring a wonderful goal for the winners near the end of the first half.

Dr Crokes put seven goals past St Brendan’s to advance to the last eight of the Kerry SFC yesterday.

The All-Ireland champions enjoyed a 7-17 to 0-16 victory in Round 2A with Colm Cooper, Daithí Casey and Kieran O’Leary in flying form. The trio bagged 6-10 between them, while Johnny Buckley made an appearance off the bench at half-time. 

Elsewhere in 2A, Rathmore defeated Feale Rangers by 2-16 to 2-7.

Feale Rangers finished with 13-men, while Kerry utility man Paul Murphy was sent-off for Rathmore in the second-half.

Brian Sweeney and Padraig Quille scored first half goals for Feale Rangers, but Mark Reen’s penalty brought Rathmore back into contention. George O’Keeffe’s three-pointer midway through the second-half sealed the win for Rathmore.

In the Round 1 replay, Austin Stacks enjoyed a 0-14 to 1-9 win against St Kieran’s. David Mannix top-scored for the Tralee outfit with six points. They’ll play the winners of today’s clash between Kenmare Shamrocks-Killarney Legion in Round 2A on Friday night.
